Total lifesaver--I got home from a massive Fairway shopping trip on President's Day to discover that my fridge had decided to stop working. I called Father & Son at 7:30 at night, thinking they would be able to come the next day. Instead, they offered to come right then and were at my house, working on my fridge by 8:30. By just past 10, the whole thing was fixed. Great service, would absolutely call again.

*****  Worst Service Ever
by Mary Gregory on February 8th, 2009
on Lowe's of Maple Grove, MN
Purchased a Cabrio clothes washer and steam dryer (gas) and arranged to have them installed for $145 (gas dryer requires a licenses plumber). Champion Plumbing (really H P Pipeworks?) arrived and stated that because the dryer was steam it would be an extra $239 to install! Requires placing a hose between washer and drier. The Lowe's delivery person told me that they do it for free with electric dryers; it take all of 1 minute. I told him to forget it; just hook up the gas. Then Lowe's told me he was new and had never seen a steam dryer!! (He was making it up and trying to take advantage.) Someone else came back and installed the dryer but left it about 14 inches from the wall with the stiff copper gas pipe. I also noticed that the steam fitting was placed so that the hose had to loop back over itself also blocking the gas line. Lowes told me the copper pipe should be flexible enough for me to bend myself and that the steam fitting was easy for me to change myself. I squeezed myself behind the dryer; got a wrench; stood on my head; and managed not to spill too much water. The hose now faced the right direction. The copper pipe does not bend and still ting tings against the dryer when it is on. Lowes pretty much told me it was my problem. The plumber was the worst ever. Don't go to Lowes or H P Pipeworks

I manage a multi-family brownstone in Park Slope and highly recommend this service. Peter is extremely competent. He schedules appointments quickly and, when possible, makes repairs immediately unlike other services which assess the problem and return for the repair. His price is fair and reasonable. Do yourself a favor and call Father & Son Appliance Repair first.

Peter's your man if your appliance is giving you grief. Our frigde quit on the day before a big party. Peter caught the urgency of my call - I was losing my mind! - he even apologized for not coming sooner. He figured out the problem - which was relatively minor but was difficult to diagnosi and fix. After a couple of hours we were up and running, and his price was more than fair! But the best part is Peter. Besides being technically smart, he's honest and engaging - the best that Brooklyn has to offer. Your faith - in people in general and skilled workers in particular - will be boosted after a visit from Peter.

Local Home Appliances

Home appliances are a necessity for cooking and cleaning. Common kitchen appliances are refrigerators, ovens, ranges, microwaves, and dishwashers. Other household appliances include washers, dryers, and vacuums. These small and large appliances are built with the expectations that they will be used for years and should not need repairs very often. While most people prefer to visit an appliance store to compare models and see what they look like, many people buy appliances online due to better prices and sales that offer the same inventory at discount prices. Since appliance dealers vary in stock, support, and customer service, please leave a review of your local appliance store for others to read.
